Syrian Rebels in the south of Syrian were able in the late of 2014 to advance toward the north of Daraa province and to reach SouthWest of RifDimashq by breaking the siege on Danaji, Habariyah and DeirMakir villages. They took many strategic areas like Tall al-Harrah and Harrah City during this offensive, in addition to the strategic hills in the area like Tall Antar, Tall Qrein and Tall al-Mseeh. The main goal of this offensive is to destroy one of the most important defense line of Damascus City.
In early 2015, the Regime lost the strategic city of SheikhMaskin in the center of Daraa Province in addition to one of the most important Air-Defense bases in southern Syria, Brigade 82. It was necessary to launch new offensive in order to reinforce the southern defense lines of Damascus City.
An offensive was launched in February 9, 2015 by the Regime (led by the IRGC and Hezbollah, backed by a large number of Hazara Afghan fighters) on SouthWest of RifDimashq province, NorthEast of Qunaitra province and the NorthWest part of Daraa province.
Reports said that the Regime used many troops from the 7th Division, 9th Division and the10th Division. Regime sources claimed that the leader of the Iranian IRGC “Qassem Suleimani” was in North of Daraa during this offensive.
However, the offensive on NorthEast of Qunaitra province has failed after the Regime’s failed attempt to storm Mas’harah village. The Regime has gained new areas in NorthWest of Daraa province and SouthWest of RifDimashq province and were able at the end of February 11, 2015 to complete the control of DeirMakir and Danaji villages, according to local activists. Clashes still ongoing in Deir al-Adass and Habariyah villages as Rebels still resisting and claiming their strong presence in those villages.

Statements by al-Izz Brigade (FSA) announced that they killed 40 Regime fighters after besieging them near DeirMakir, as Nusra Front also claimed that they captured around 30 Regime fighters in Tulul Fatmah area near Sultaniyah village.
Controlling the hills was the main thing that played an important role in order to control the villages, since there are many hills in the area. Rebels have lost their control of at the beginning of the offensive Tall Marri’ and Tall al-Mseeh, which was an advantage for the Regime fighters to capture Deir al-Adass, Danaji and DeirMakir villages.
Regime sources said that the Regime planning to control the villages in NorthWest of Daraa Province and to reach strategic hill of Tall al-Harrah, which is known as one of the most strategic areas in southern Syria.
